IRR stands for ”Internal Rate of Return” and it is the measure of an investment’s rate of return.  What is a good IRR? 12 – 18% IRR. The term ”internal rate” refers to the calculation’s exclusion of external factors, such as the risk-free rate, inflation, the cost of capital, or various financial risks. 

The IRR measures how well a project, capital expenditure, or investment performs over time. The IRR has many uses and it often helps companies compare one investment to another, or determine whether or not a particular project is viable. 

A ROI is the annual expected ”Return On Investment”. In agriculture the IRR is more reliable due to it having so many variables in farming. Unless you are in a controlled environment such as a green house utilizing hydroponics, you can anticipate that there will be great years, better than the anticipated ROI, and years that are not so great, having a lower than anticipated ROI—especially during the first 5 – 7 years. However, the anticipated IRR will stand pretty firm when looking at the long term of any investment utilizing farm land. 

There are no taxes due on agricultural income in Panama up to $350,000 per year.   However, if you are a citizen of another country, and tax laws in your country require you to pay taxes on income earned, even if it is outside your home country, your home country taxes would still be applicable.

In most cases, yes. It depends on the project you select, and the specific company.   We will review the different types of produce that you may invest in and explain the ROI, IRR, and whether a title is included or not. 

In some cases, you may have a higher ROI / IRR, and no title but a business investment, or maybe less ROI / IRR with a title. You can select which type of project you prefer.   

Organic produce contains fewer pesticides and chemicals like fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides that are widely used in conventional agriculture. These chemical residues remain on and in the food, which can cause all kinds of health concerns.

Organic foods contain more vitamins, minerals, and enzymes than conventionally raised food. They are fresher and do not have as long a shelf life due to the lack of preservatives that typically make food last longer. Aside from being prohibited the use of GMO (genetically modified organisms), no artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors are allowed in USDA organic foods.  

Yes. Due to all of the requirements, from the condition of the soil, to the constraints of what can and cannot be used in the production of organic foods: The cost is higher.

Due to the continued growth of the global population, and expectations that it will exceed 9 billion by 2050, the demand for food is only going to become greater. This, along with a decrease in available farm land, as well as farmers, indicates that “bugs” will be a great part of the typical diet for the world’s population by the year 2050.
